How TLJ is planning for a sustainable future
Taking steps to reduce the impact our business activities have on the environment now and in the future.
Working with customers to reduce environmental impact
We've also been able to extend our sustainability commitments to our customer-facing activities:
- Moved as many business meetings as possible online. Made a necessity during the COVID 19 pandemic, we have continued in this vein, greatly reducing the impact caused by national and international travel
- Attending a greater number of hybrid and virtual trade shows and exhibitions, versus purely in-person events
- Using online messaging services for remote commissioning and onboarding
- Reduced the need for plastic key cards or fobs with the widespread adoption of TLJ Mobile Keys - opening doors by smartphone. We even supply key cards made from renewable materials for customers who require a physical key cards
- Adopting ISO 14001:2015, the international standard for environmental management systems. We have recently passed our assessment yet again and reaffirmed our commitment for another year
Introducing (more:trees)
One of the most exciting developments is our subscription to (more:trees). The organisation's goal is to help businesses and individuals take impactful climate action to secure the future of our planet now and for generations to come. They come up with novel and innovative ways to make sustainable actions easier, automatic and part of everyday business. A wide variety of carbon sequestration projects are offered, being at the forefront of climate action and developments providing the greatest offsetting and validation tools, technologies and projects.
AT TLJ we've made an ongoing commitment to planting and carbon sequestration via (more:trees). Our initial pledge was 1,000 new trees, which equates to approximately 300 tonnes of CO2 sequestered over the trees' lifetime. Take a look at our Virtual Forest here.
It’s easy to jump on the ‘green’ bandwagon and give lip service to environmental issues and sustainability. However I’m really proud that here at TLJ we’ve grasped the nettle and taken meaningful, measurable steps to reduce our environmental impact. From sponsored tree planting to recycled packaging and IS0 14001:2015 compliance, we hope that - even in a small way - we are contributing to a sustainable future.
