Project details

Kings Education is a specialist higher education group aimed at international students. Due to the nature of their students, some of whom are as young as 14, they required a solution which not only offered the best possible security, but also provided complete control and auditing of the various entry points. Being able to revoke and replace keys at a moment’s notice was a high priority.

TLJ were chosen to provide electronic key card locks for their new-build site in Brighton, comprising of classrooms, social areas, a library and student accommodation facilities.

This important project involved the installation of 60 Infinity electronic key card locks on bedroom doors, a further dozen on staff offices and 22 wall-mounted access readers for all public doors. All of these entry points are activated by RFID contactless key cards.

The TLJ lock management software is highly flexible and can interface with many popular on-site systems. For the Kings Education project in Brighton we were able to integrate our key cards so they act as cashless vending machine and canteen cards to purchase food, control photocopier usage, and even act as library cards for renting books.

Despite the construction work on the entire project running some five months behind schedule, TLJ’s installation and commissioning work was completed on time and to budget.

We were introduced to TLJ from a client who had good experience of them previously. All TLJ staff were very professional and carried out their tasks to a high standard – from the sales team pitching to Kings Education to the engineers on site. Every effort was made by TLJ to facilitate our installation alongside their other ongoing works, despite our project running five months late. I would be more than happy to engage TLJ again in the future, and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending them and their services to others.
