SYHA Hostelling Scotland is a self-funding charity operating a network of over 60 exceptional youth and affiliate hostels. A series of major site refurbishments saw a review of access control provision, for which TLJ were invited to tender.
TLJ was commissioned to install electronic locks and access readers at seven of their most prominent sites: Crianlarich, Edinburgh Central, Oban, Glencoe, Stirling, Glasgow and Inverness. The sites offer a mix of family, group and individual rooms, as well as communal living spaces such as dining rooms, kitchens and games rooms. As such, security, ease of use, reliability and affordability were top priorities when SYHA selected TLJ as their access control provider.
TLJ’s robust and highly cost-effective Infinity lock was fitted to all bedrooms. Communal areas, shared spaces and main entrances were secured by TLJ’s wall mounted access readers. Hostels are not hotels, so the convenience and flexibility of being able to cut secure RFID guest cards on site, on demand, is a major benefit for SYHA. Guests are arriving on site and leaving throughout the day and, in the event of a lost card, guests can obtain a replacement immediately.
