TLJ celebrate the practical completion of Thames Quarter in Reading with builder Watkin Jones Group and investors M&G Real Estate.
This stunning Build to Rent scheme is situated in the heart of Reading next to the railway station, and will offer 315 households amazing connectivity from their homes to London and the south east.
Thames Quarter will offer residents beautiful living spaces alongside a range of amenities, including a residents’ lounge, co-working space for people working from home, a gym, a cinema room and roof garden. The scheme consists of two main towers, one with 12-storeys and the other 23 storeys.
TLJ were commissioned to deliver an integrated access control solution throughout the development. This included access control readers on all main entrances and shared access doors, smart parcel lockers, smart mailboxes, elevator controllers on all floors, and over 350 TLJ Invisible-model contactless electronic locks on all apartments.
TLJ’s Invisible lock set was chosen to complement this prestigious BTR development. Subtle and unobtrusive, all the working parts of the lock are hidden inside the door, giving the installation a traditional look and feel. A specifier’s dream, it is possible to choose almost any combination of lever, escutcheon and cylinder to match the rest of the décor.
Despite the traditional look, Invisible is bang up to date when it comes to specification. Compatible with contactless RFID key cards or fobs, Invisible comes with smartphone operation as standard.
To fulfil the operational brief, and meet the demands of today’s BTR residents, we've provided Mobile Keys. This allows all door locks, access readers, elevator controllers and locker units to be controlled via a single, intuitive smartphone app. It's branded with the Thames Quarter logo and colour palette too.
One of the core requirements of installing access control at Thames Quarter was that any solution must meet the highest standards of safety and security. As such, all TLJ access control systems are Secured by Design accredited, vital in a BTR setting.
To accompany that, our electronic lockets exceed FD30 & FD60 fire resistance testing; have Certifire accreditation; CE marking for fire, mechanical and electrical testing, and are PAS 24 security certified.
Luke Martin, TLJ Chief Technical Officer, said
This is another project with Watkin Jones and M&G upon which it’s been a pleasure to work. Along with its sister development - Sienna House in Sutton - our entire team has pulled out all the stops to meet (and hopefully exceed) the client’s brief. I would be proud to live in either of these BTR developments, they’re truly stunning
